Guaranteed E-mail Delivery, On Time, Every Time
It is absolutely critical that e-mails always get delivered if a change management system is to have a chance
of being successful. Improving the content of your e-mails is one thing, but it's of no use if the e-mail never arrives. One of the
design goals of OnMessage was to ensure that e-mails would always get delivered.
Server-side E-mail Notification
Rather than rely on ClearQuest to deliver e-mail, OnMessage uses a completely separate server daemon to handle all aspects of e-mail notification;
from detecting that an e-mail needs to be sent, to constructing it, to delivering it.
Resilience is built in with support for mail queueing and multiple SMTP hosts. If the server hosting OnMessage
goes down or loses network connectivity, OnMessage will be able to work out what e-mail needs to be sent as soon as it comes back on line.
With OnMessage, you're guaranteed that e-mails will be sent on time, every time.
Useful Content; Contented Users
The easier something is on the eyes, the more likely the reader to pay attention. OnMessage e-mails are specifically engineered to effectively
balance usefulness, aesthetics and functionality.
What Do I Need To Do Now?
Each OnMessage e-mail is targetted specifically at the user who is accountable for performing the next action in the record's lifecycle.
The first segment of each e-mail identifies what has just happened, as well as explicitly stating what needs to be done.
With the help of QuickLink, the necessary follow-up actions can be initiated simply
by clicking on the links in the e-mail.
As our existing customers have found, this proves to be immensely effective in ensuring users do what they're required to do, on time,
every time — a key part of any successful change management solution.

Attaching Attachments
Any new attachments that are added to ClearQuest records are automatically attached to e-mails sent out by OnMessage. This allows the recipient
to review the attachment immediately rather than having to go into ClearQuest and manually open the file.
Where possible, OnMessage will use icons for the attached files based on the file type, as can be seen in the examples to the right.
If images are attached, OnMessage will even embed thumbnails of the attached images in the e-mail.
For users that receive e-mail notifications but may not necessary have access to the ClearQuest database (e.g. external customers, offsite
engineers, etc), this can come as a very welcome addition.

Timeline Graphs
All OnMessage e-mails feature a dynamically generated transition timeline embedded in the e-mail, depicting how long the affected
record has been in each state.
This provides valuable feedback about a defect or issue's status, allowing managers to easily identify if a record has been slipping past its due
date at a glance.
